The role of an AC may be to bring comfort to a home, but that doesn't mean it's merely a luxury. It has become a need that most homes can't do without. In fact, according to Comfy Living, the annual demand for AC in America was 15.3 million units in 2018. Over the years, that number has increased. Seeing how many people own these units, it's crucial to know what problems you can expect from yours. Take a look at some of them.

1. Cool Air Isn't Flowing

There are two ways you can experience this problem. The first is that you can hear the AC running, but no air is coming from the ducts. Secondly, some air may be coming from the duct, but it's not cool. A tripped circuit breaker or worn-out blower belt can lead to this issue. You'll have to call a technician for air conditioning services to rectify the problem.

2. AC Is Loud

A well-functioning AC should be relatively quiet. If you can hear it and it sounds like it's struggling, then it most likely is. Faulty ACs usually make different noises, such as squealing or screeching sounds. Any form of noise you hear can indicate issues with the belt, motor, fans, or compressors. Have an AC technician come and check it out before the damage worsens.

3. AC Isn't Turning on

If your AC isn't working, start by checking the thermostat batteries, as they could be dead. If that's not the problem, check the settings, as the cooling mode may be off. A tripped circuit breaker can also cause an AC not to run. Reset it, then check if the AC will work. If these solutions don't work, call an expert for air conditioning services.

4. Ducts Are Leaking

The ductwork running through your ceilings and walls carries cool air throughout your property. Unfortunately, these ducts can get holes mainly from rodents. That means your cooled air will end up inside your ceilings or walls where it's not needed. At the same time, your AC will be forced to work harder, which can lead to higher energy bills.

5. AC Is Blowing Hot Air

The last thing you need is your AC blowing hot air during summer. When your AC behaves like this, it means you have an obstruction in your ducts or a dirty filter.
